Stanley Warmup and Freedom Results

The Sea Cucumbers took Hong Kong waterways by storm this weekend, participating in not just one but TWO dragon boat race festivals. On Saturday, we joined the crowd of eager and rain-soaked paddlers on Stanley Main Beach at the 14th Sun Life Stanley Dragon Boat Warm Up races. Our mixed, open (men) and ladies teams raced along the 250 m course, happy to put our training in windy, choppy conditions to the test! Stanley Dragon Boat Association, we’ll be back in June to do it again!
After drying out our gear, we headed out again on Sunday to the Freedom Dragon Boat Iron Man Flag Catcher race at the Sha Tin Sport Club. It was so much fun last year, we had to come back and it did not disappoint. Our mixed and ladies team had fun racing both small and standard boats along the 200 m course, trying to be the first to raise the flag. Our team steersmen did a super job and who doesn’t love winning beer in addition to trophies?!
